Surviving Dolores are a sister, Rose Agnes Boeckenstedt, and a brother, David W. Boeckenstedt, both of New Vienna, 2 sisters-in-laws: Marcella Boeckenstedt of Dyersville and Alice Boeckenstedt of Dubuque. She was proud to be an aunt to 59 nieces and nephews, a great aunt to 53 and a great-great aunt to 60. She had 4 Godchildren, Ann Reinert of Petersburg, Gary Boeckenstedt of Colleyville, Texas, Luke Boeckenstedt of Dyersville, and Rose A. Boeckenstedt. She was preceded in death by her parents and 7 brothers: Charles (Alma), Arthur (Helen), James (Imelda), Mark (Agnes), Albert, Anthony (Julianna and Winnie), and Robert Boeckenstedt.

Dolores was born Oct. 11, 1909, in New Vienna, Iowa the daughter of Anton and Agnes (Beckman) Boeckenstedt. She helped on the family farm and later did housekeeping work, especially for Msgr. Leo A. Jaeger at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dubuque for 23 years. After his death she retired and returned to New Vienna to help care for her ailing mother.

She was a member of St. Boniface Parish and its Altar Society, the Edward W. Lake V.F.W. Auxiliary, the New Vienna Historical Society and the Tri-County Sportsman Club. Her hobbies included crocheting, card playing and playing bingo.

Dolores M. Boeckenstedt, 98, of Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville and formerly of New Vienna, Iowa died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007 at Oak Crest Manor after a brief illness. Friends may call from 3 - 9 p.m. Wed. Dec. 26, 2007 at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where an Altar Society/V.F.W. Auxiliary Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a parish scripture service will be held at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thurs. Dec. 27, 2007 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O’Connor will officiate.

A memorial fund has been established. We would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Oak Crest Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for their wonderful care. We deeply appreciate all the clergy for their spiritual enlightenment.
