(Tina) Stanley of New Vienna, IA, Donna DeFries (Garry Verble) of Midlothian, IL, 10 grandchildren: Michael Stanley, Jeremy Dorf, Jenni Snedden, Justin Snedden, Tori Stanley, Mark Stanley, Steve Verble, Joseph Verble, Timothy Crowely, Daniel Reed, 3 great grandchildren: Exodus, Titus, Cyrus Drexler, and a sister, Arletta Rowe of Palos Hills, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Joan.

Herbert was born on September 17, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Herbert L. Sr. and Mildred A. (Kauffmann) Stanley. He married Joan Carlson on August 25, 1951 in Chicago, IL. Herbert was a Korean War Veteran serving from 1951-1953. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Midlothian Illinois VFW.

Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, Iowa where military honors will be provided. Committal officiant will be Rev. John O’Conner.
