MONTICELLO, IOWA Sylvia M. Biehl, 97, of Monticello, Iowa died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the Monticello Nursing & Rehab. Center, Monticello, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2009 at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday December 28, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, Iowa. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. in St Mary’s cemetery, Masonville Iowa. Officiating will be Rev. Keith Birch.

She is survived by one son, Michael of San Francisco, CA, one daughter, Jean (John) Prull of Monticello, IA, 11 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, one sister, Clara Leigh of Dyersville, IA, and several nieces and nephews..

Sylvia was born on May 30, 1912 in New Vienna, Iowa, the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Anna (Hagemann) Oberbroeckling. She married Joseph Biehl on January 21, 1934 in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Petersburg, Iowa. Together they farmed in Prairie du Chien until 1939 when they moved to the Masonville, IA. area and farmed there until Joseph’s death on January 28, 1965. Sylvia lived in Manchester after Joseph’s death and worked at several locations mostly as a waitress until moving to Monticello in 1978. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph, one daughter, Mary Joan (Joe) Mullin, two brothers, Gilbert and Leonard Oberbroeckling, three sisters, Alice Kinister Loretta Lucas, Hilda Wilson and one great granddaughter.

Memorials are preferred.
