Carl B. Kintzle, 97, of Monticello, Iowa and formerly of Prarieburg, Iowa died Friday, February 12, 2010, at Hallmar at Mercy in Cedar Rapids.

Friends may call from 3 – 8 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2010, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prairieburg, IA with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Wayne Droessler will officiate.

Carl was born May 10, 1912, in Sherrill, Iowa the son of Frank and Alvina (Ulbrich) Kintzle. He married Mary Colletta Kearney on June 25, 1935, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade. Together they farmed for 9 years near Cascade and 47 years at Prairieburg. They moved to Monticello in 1987. Carl was a charter member of the Flying Farmers of Iowa and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1821 and a 4th Degree member of the Bowens Assembly. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Manchester, the Farm Bureau, the Prairieburg Fire Department and Telephone Board, the Linn County Beef Producers, the Beef Board Extension Council and the Central City Farmers Coop. Carl’s priorities were always his faith, family, cattle and cards with his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Coletta, 6 children: Joanne Smith of Cedar Rapids, IA, Harold (Gloria) Kintzle of Anamosa, IA, Darrell (Karen) Kintzle of Hiawatha, IA, Jack (Dee) Kintzle of Coggon, IA, Joyce (Kurt) Moser of Bloomington, IL and Bob Kintzle of Hiawatha, IA; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and; 2 sisters-in-law; Clara Kintzle of Manchester, IA and Virginia (Cletus) McCabe of Dubuque, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Greg Smith, 4 brothers: Harold, Lester (Idabelle), Milt, and Irvin (Agnes) Kintzle, and 2 sisters: Stella (Ed) Lindauer and Mildred (Wilfred) Kearney and 8 other brothers-and-sisters-in-law.

Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello or Camp Courageous of Iowa.
