Norma F. Platz Deppe, 79, of Dyersville, Iowa died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Kinnic Long Term Nursing Home, River Falls, WI.

Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 12, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Gross.

Norma was born on March 21, 1931 in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Gregor and Mathilda (Billmeyer) Tegeler. She married Herbert A. Platz on February 14, 1949, in Dyersville, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1974. Norma later married Lawrence J. Deppe on July 5, 1996, in Dyersville, Iowa. He also preceded her in death in 2003. She and Herb ran Platz’s Station together until his death when the business was sold. She later worked at Darlene’s Hallmark. Spending time with her grandchildren, baking cookies, gambling, dancing and listening to big-band music were some of Norma’s favorite pastimes.

Survivors include her children: Dave (Jill) Platz of Broomfield, CO, Bill (Todd) Platz of River Falls, WI, Diane (Dan) Lassiter of Manchester, GA, and Julie (Chad) Holt of Clive, IA, 6 step children: Steve (Mary) Deppe of Peosta, IA, Pat (Joan) Deppe, Linda Fangmann, Becky (Don) Maiers and Bev (Dan) Clemen, all of Dyersville, IA, and Sharon (Chris) Klaren of Waterloo, IA, 11 grandchildren and 18 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren; her stepmother, Delores Deutmeyer of Dyersville, IA; brothers & sisters: Bernice Holub of Prairieburg, IA, Lou Overman, Leona Gudenkauf, Elmer Tegeler, Herb Tegeler, Don (Cathy) Tegeler, all of Dyersville Marcella (Fritz) Bries of Epworth, IA, Mary Jean “Toots” (Hank) Westhoff of New Vienna, IA. Brothers & sisters-in-law: Irene Fischel of Edgewood, IA, Beverly Tegeler of Bellevue, IA, William (Rosie) Deppe of Manchester, IA, Adella (Donald) Helle of Dyersville, IA, Bertha Klas of New Vienna, IA, Gladys Schemmel of Monticello, IA, Hilda (Melvin) Reittinger and Sr. Julitta Deppe, O.S.F., both of Dubuque, IA

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Herbert Platz & Lawrence Deppe, step granddaughter, Brittany Clemen, siblings: Infant Lucille, Ray, Tony, and Gib Tegeler, and Helen Kramer; several in-laws from the Platz, Tegeler and Deppe families. Memorials are preferred.
