Anna Jane Mescher, 88, of Dyersville died Thursday, July 15, 2010, surrounded by her daughters at Oak Crest Manor.

Friends may call from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a Catholic Daughters of America Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. and a parish scripture service will be held at 5:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery.

Jane was born June 28, 1922, near Worthington, Iowa the daughter of Anton and Anna (Kramer) Osterhaus. She was united in marriage to Edwin A. Mescher on December 26, 1944, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica. Together they made their home in Dyersville. She devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother and adored grandmother. Jane’s days were always busy with many interests including quilting, playing cards, gardening and golfing. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Rose.

She is survived by her four daughters: Elaine (John) Giebenhain of Plymouth, MN, Anne (Rick) Wagner of Gurnee, IL, Joyce Lukich of Naperville, IL and Mary (Waldyn) Benbenek of Minneapolis, MN; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; and her sister, Sylveria “Sis” Kramer of Dyersville; numerous brothers-and-sisters-in law, cousins and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, a son-in-law, Mike Lukich, 4 sisters: Betty Tauke, Alvina Krapfl, Viola Quint and Isabel Westhoff, 4 brothers: Julius, Erwin, Arthur and Clarence “Clay” Osterhaus, and many in-laws from the Osterhaus and Mescher families.

Memorials are preferred to Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville or Hospice of Dubuque.
