Irma was born on February 20, 1922 in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Emma (Krogman) Funke. She married Raymond C. Hess on June 28, 1938 in Worthington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1991. She worked for the Dyersville Sales Barn for 50 years retiring in 2000. Irma enjoyed crocheting, watching golf, gardening, and loved spending time with her grandchildren & great grandchildren.
She was a member of the St. Paul Altar & Rosary Society.

Survivors include her children: Marjean (Ron) Marbach, Deanne (Gary) Lammers of Dyersville, Ia. Patricia “Pat” (Richard) White of Hopkinton, Ia, 11 grandchildren: Mary Jo (Chris) Piper, Lois (Mike) Faley, Lisa (Bill) Northup, , Jeff Lammers, Lynn (Gary) Kluesner, Ken (Allison) White, Paula White, Kathy (Brian) Grete, Lee White, Rachel (Corey) Schoenfelder, Patrick White, 14 great grandchildren: Mike, Brittany and Megan Faley, Lauren and Jacob Northup, Sarah , Justin, Abigail, Garret,Kluesner, Elizabeth and Adam White, Andrew and Joshua Grete, JJ Schoenfelder., sisters: Lucille Kelchen of Cascade, Ia, Norma (Lawrence) Link of Dyersville, Ia, brothers:, Eldon (Kaye) Funke of Monticello, Marvin (Rose Lee) Funke of Dyersville, sister-in-law, Kathleen Funke of Worthington, Ia. and Irene Funke of Farley, Ia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray, 2 children: David and Lois Ann, grandson, Bob Lammers, 3 brothers: Gilbert, LeVern and Donald Funke and 2 sisters, Deloras Sabers and Grace Link.

Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 3 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, July 22, 2010 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Gross.
