MONTICELLO, IOWA Esther B. Reichenauer, 92, of Monticello, Iowa, died Friday morning, November 20, 2015, at the Monticello Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Monticello, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello with Rev. Paul Baldwin officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, November 23 at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, where there will be rosary recited at 4.00 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello. Esther was born January 15, 1923, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of George and Ludwina (Burkle) Recker. She was united in marriage to John Reichenauer on September 27, 1949, in Dyersville, Iowa. To this union three children were born. Esther and John raised their family on the farm where they provided for all their family’s needs. She always grew a garden and especially enjoyed her flowers. She provided delicious meals; of special note was her roast beef, pies and cookies. Most of all, she loved her family and lit up whenever she saw her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Esther was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and The Altar & Rosary Society in Prairieburg while on the farm and of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Esther and John especially enjoyed serving donuts each week at Sacred Heart parish hall. Survivors include 2 sons Donald (LaRae) Reichenauer of Monticello, IA, Mark Reichenauer of Corning, IA and daughter Lois (Dave) Cavanaugh of Ionia, IA; 11 grandchildren, Kristen (Brian) Jerome, Jody (Jared) Thompson, Andrew (Jeni) Reichenauer, Kyle (Torrey) Cavanaugh, Lori (David) Schmitz, Sara (Evan) Leitch, Joseph, Jacob and Kenneth Reichenauer and Tyler and Shelby Evans and 7 great- grandchildren; Siblings: Mary Jane Reichenauer of Dyersville, Sister Margaret Ann Recker, OSF of Milwaukee, WI, Helen Hawker of Cedar Rapids, Charles (Ann) Recker of Dyersville, Velma (John) Krapfl of Dyersville, Donald (Joan) Recker of Nocogdoches, TX, Karol (Jim) Koch of Fairfax; sisters-in-law: Mildred Recker of Dubuque, Maureen Recker of Epworth, Eileen Prier of Dyersville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John in 2010, a daughter-in-law, Jill Reichenauer;and siblings: Germaine (Al) Kelchen, David (in infancy), Louis, Robert, George Jr. and Ralph Recker.
